Publish-Unpublish Workflow

✅ Publish Data

Publishing marks modeled equipment and their points from Staging as Live, making them active for time-series data collection. You can publish all at once or incrementally as you finish modeling each piece of equipment.

⏪ Unpublish Data

The unpublish workflow lets you remove published data from the live building. It offers flexibility to refine your modeled data by removing unwanted equipment or points from the live building, without deleting the raw discovered data. After unpublishing, the data is preserved on Staging, and the equipment or points will no longer stream live data.

Below are the different ways to unpublish data:

1. Unpublish equipment & all its points
   1. Go to the Equipment Tab
   2. Select one or more equipment you wish to unpublish
   3. Click the Unpublish button
   4. This removes the selected equipment and all its associated points from the live building
   5. The points remain associated with their equipment on Staging
2. Unpublish & unassign points from a single equipment
   1. On the Equipment Tab, expand the equipment row to open the Points sub-tab
   2. Uncheck the points you want to unassign
   3. Click Apply to finalize changes
   4. The unchecked points will be un-assigned from the equipment
   5. If the points were published, they will be unpublished
3. Unpublish & unassign points from multiple equipment
   1. Go to the Points Tab
   2. Use the filter tools to identify unwanted points, for example filter by Point Name containing "pid" to narrow your search across multiple equipment
   3. Select the identified points
   4. Click the Remove from Equipment button in the top menu
   5. The selected points will be un-assigned from their respective equipment in a single operation
   6. Any published points will be unpublished by this process

⚠️ Note

Points with Multiple Equipment Associations: If a point is assigned to multiple equipment, un-assigning it from one equipment via the Equipment Tab will not affect its published status, it stays published as long as it’s assigned to at least one equipment. Unpublishing a point from the Points Tab, on the other hand, removes it from all associated equipment.

Devices or Points Removed from Your Building: Onboard does not currently support deleting devices or points from Staging. If a device or point has been decommissioned or removed from your building, unpublish the relevant equipment and points on Staging.
