The Locations Tab lets you define the spatial structure of your building, such as Floors, Rooms, Corridors, and Stairwells. Locations help you organize equipment within physical spaces, making your data easier to navigate and understand.
📍 Create & Delete Locations
Create: Use the Create Location button in the top menu to add a new location
Delete: Select the location(s) you wish to remove and use the Delete button to remove them permanently
A few rules to keep in mind:
Each location must have a Location Type: Corridor, Floor, Room, or Stairwell
Each location must have a unique name within the building
Location names cannot match the name of any published equipment
Once created, the location will appear below in the Locations table.
🔗 Modeling Locations
You can model a Contains relationship for each location. Contains is used to show that a location encapsulates a target entity, either another location or equipment.
Click expand on a location row to model it. There are two sub-tabs:
Contains Equipment: Search and select the equipment you want to contain in this location. For example, a room containing a VAV and a fan. Note: only published equipment can be added to a location
Contains Location: Search and select the location you created that you want to contain in this location. For example, a floor containing a corridor and a room
Note: You cannot assign a Floor as a contained location under another location, Floors must remain top-level.
